For 2015 the Memory Tree was lit in memory of Ted Morris who who worked with the Sittingbourne CHristmas Lights Association for more than 20 years. He was involved before the High Street makeover when the lights used to be strung across the road and use to make and refurbish the strings of lights in his garden. At that point the lights were made from heavy duty wire with tinsel and strings of filament bulbs all put together by hand. His involvement continued into the new High Street where the lights were strung from special posts mounted in the new brick pavements.
The following article was published by the Sittingbourne News Extra as an obituary and says it all. Without people like Ted there would be no Christmas Lights in the town and the group were proud to be able to dedicate the Memory Tree to Ted this year.
